Marsha Carter is Vice President and General Manager of Shelter Life Insurance Company, a member of Shelter Insurance group of operating companies, who together provide a variety of insurance products and services to customers. As recipient of the JD Power Award for highest customer satisfaction in the Central Region of the U.S. for auto insurance, Shelter's continued focus on providing exceptional customer service and strong financial standing has set them apart as one of the top regional insurance companies in the country.
Marsha joined Shelter Insurance Companies in 1998 as a sales Agent in Colorado Springs, CO. In 2002 she became part of the Marketing Management team serving as District Sales Manager in Colorado. She assumed various roles in Marketing including Manager of Marketing Administration, Iowa State Sales Manager, Regional Sales Manager of the Western Region, and Director of Marketing Operations. Marsha was appointed to her current role as Vice President and General Manager of Shelter Life Insurance Company in early 2016.
Prior to her career with Shelter Insurance Companies, Marsha gained experience in the insurance industry through her father's Independent Insurance Agency while growing up in a Southwest Kansas farming community as well as working for Farmers Insurance Group while attending college. She has also worked within the non-profit sector as a business advisor and business owner working with at-risk youth. Marsha and her husband have three grown children who reside in Kansas. Her hobbies include photography, hiking in Colorado, and attending sporting and music events.
Marsha earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and dual major in Industrial Labor Relations from Kansas State University. She enjoys volunteer work through various local non-profit organizations including United Way Heart of Missouri, Cedar Creek Therapeutic Riding Center, Columbia Leadership, and her local church.
