Central Missouri Chapter Hosts Young Driver Presentations

Fri, 04/03/2015 - 10:02

On Wednesday, March 18 and Thursday, March 19, the Central Missouri Chapter hosted young driver presentations in connection with Columbia Public Schools - Reality Week. The presentations were offered at Rock Bridge High School and Hickman High School, and focused on the dangers of distracted and impaired driving.

Over 165 attendees received valuable information and giveaways from area Culvers, Subway and McDonalds restaurants.

Trent Brooks of MoDOT and the Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety spoke on the importance of seatbelt usage. Drivers who were not wearing a seatbelt account for nearly two thirds of all roadway fatalities.

Officer Scott Wilson of the Columbia Police Department spoke about Missouri's Graduated Driver License Law, and the potential consequences of not wearing seatbelts or following permit license requirements.

Finally, Keller Colley of ThinkFirst Missouri shared his personal story about the dangers of impaired driving and seatbelt usage.

The chapter would like to thank our guest speakers and those who attended this informative event.
