Central Missouri Chapter Hosts Young Driver Presentation

Mon, 03/24/2014 - 11:11

On Thursday March 20, 2014 the Central Missouri Chapter hosted a young driver presentation in connection with Columbia Public Schools - Reality Week. The presentation focused on the dangers of distracted and impaired driving.

Over 50 attendees received information and giveaways from area Subway and McDonalds restaurants.

Trent Brooks of MoDOT and the Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety spoke on the importance of seatbelt usage. Drivers who were not wearing a seatbelt account for nearly two thirds of all roadway fatalities.

Keller Colley of ThinkFirst Missouri shared his personal story about the dangers of impaired driving and seatbelt usage.

Finally, Officer Scott Wilson of the Columbia Police Department spoke about Missouri's Graduated Driver License Law, and the potential consequences of not wearing seatbelts or following permit license requirements.

The chapter would like to thank our guest speakers and those who attended this informative event.
