Brian Fick, Manager of Business Operations at Shelter Insurance, provided an overview of comprehensive Business Continuity planning at the November Central Missouri CPCU Society meeting.
In addition to talking about the journey Shelter Insurance launched many years ago to develop a comprehensive plan for business recovery and resumption, he noted the two hot topics that we in the Insurance Industry face moving forward.
Data Breach is the #1 hot topic. Fick emphasized "'It's not a matter of IF, 
but a matter of WHEN' say all the professionals," talking about data breach. Just below Data Breach on the list of hot topics for business continuity planning is Pandemic/Contagious Diseases, said Fick. "That's where we're headed next," he noted.
His last slide, "Keep Calm & Make a Plan," summed up a great presentation on what we all need to be doing to make sure our organizations are able to continue serving our customers should the unthinkable strike our places of business.
